Road Closure Planned During First Weeks of School
|
- Roadwork will begin on Trotting Park Road on August 25.
- Access to the lower parking lot for student drop off and pick up, and staff parking will remain available via Route 28 only. Trotting Park Rd will be closed between the intersection of Old Main St. and the entrance to the parking lot. Traffic will not be able to pass from Old Main or Center St. onto Trotting Park Road.
- Three cue lanes will be established in the lower lot for student drop off and pickup to avoid significant back-up onto Route 28.
- If at all possible, families should consider having your child ride the bus to/from school to help avoid longer than usual delays during pick up and drop off. Our dedicated and professional school bus drivers work with our school staff to ensure student safety and well-being during their bus ride.
- Additional police details will be in place during the project and especially during the first few days of school to help with safety and traffic.
- Enter the lower parking lot from Route 28/Trotting Park Road.
- Follow staff directions to enter one of three marked cue lanes.
- Follow staff directions to move your vehicle up to the student drop off zone.
- Have your child ready to exit the vehicle with all belongings, ideally on the right side of the vehicle.
- Parents/caregivers should remain in the vehicle at all times.
- Staff members will escort students to the gym entrance and ensure they arrive safely in their classrooms.
- There will be no parking available for parents/caregivers during drop off or pick up times.
- As adults, it is important that we model patience, respect, and flexibility as we all navigate this new routine.
