Exciting Field Trips and Penny Harvest at EHBi

Our third graders had the fantastic opportunity to attend the Cape Symphony Link-Up Concert performed at the Barnstable High School Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, February 4th. Our very own music teacher, Mrs. Smith, performed with the symphony as well!

Our second graders will be going on their library field trip on Monday, February 9th to Dennis Memorial and Dennis Public Libraries. As always, thank you to our community organizations and our amazing PTAC for funding the transportation to these events.

One of our amazing school traditions, the Penny Harvest, will be starting this Thursday with an assembly featuring the Wheel of Kindness!

This year is just flying by, with our 100th day of school is coming up on Tuesday, February 10th! We're looking forward to a great week before our February vacation!

Physical Education All Stars

Congratulations to these students for earning a spot as a PE All Star. A PE All Star is a student that shows safety, tries their best, has a great attitude, shows respect in class, and shows great sportsmanship!

2026 Family Book Club

Dear Families,
We are starting to plan for our 2026 Family Book Club. We will be reading Toys! Amazing Stories Behind Some Great Inventions by Don Wulffson and Laurie Keller.

We are looking for Grade 2 and Grade 3 Family book club readers. We will be recording each student reading one chapter. These videos will be included on the Google Site for our Family Book. Families will be able to watch the videos throughout the weeks of the Book Club.

If you have a student that is interested, please email Meredith Henderson, EHB Literacy Coach, hendersm@dy-regional.k12.ma.us. The recordings will happen the week of February 23rd.

Promoting Good Attendance All Winter Long

Dear Families,

Being at school every day helps students stay connected, confident and on track in their learning.

We understand snow, rain, and seasonal illnesses like colds, flu, fevers and earaches can sometimes make it harder to get to school.

While some absences are unavoidable, every missed day, including excused absences, interrupts the routine of learning and makes it harder for students to feel engaged and connected.

Here are some ways to keep your child healthy and in school this winter:

1. Develop back up plans for getting your student to school. If you can’t take them to school, see who else can give them a ride, or form a “walking school bus” to walk to school or the school bus stop with other families.
2. If your student gets sick or you are not sure whether to keep them home or send them to school, talk to your child’s medical provider or the school nurse for advice.
3. Look for signs of stress or anxiety. If you feel that anxiety or stress is playing a role, talk to your student’s teacher, the school nurse or counselor, or your medical provider about how best to support your child.
4. Promote healthy habits. Encourage hand washing, good sleep, healthy meals, daily exercise and plenty of fluids.
5. Prevent the spread of germs. Remind children not to share cups or utensils with others.
6. Dress your student for the cold weather. If you need help with coats, hats, or gloves, please contact our school social worker, Tanya Roza at rozat@dy-regional.k12.ma.us
7. Stay connected if your student must be home. If illness keeps your child out for more than a day or two, contact your child’s teacher for learning materials so they don’t fall behind.

We know winter can be tough, but showing up matters.

Let us know how we can help you. If you’re having trouble or need resources, please call us at 508-398-7651 and ask to speak with Mrs. Roza.

Thank you for partnering with us!
